Latest & Greatest

Since wrapping up the season in Europe about a month ago, I've kept myself busy swimming, biking, and running, more or less. No, I wasn't maintaining fitness for another last minute race on some other continent, because I've fully embraced the off-season and its splendors. Instead, I've swam, rode, or ran when I felt like doing so. No GPS, watch, or any form of technology accompanied me for any session. Some days, if I wanted to go faster, I did. Other days, I just sat on the couch wondering what the horses in our back pasture think about all day. To get inside the mind of a horse, I'm guessing I'd have to jump in the pasture and chase them around, so I could know what they're thinking at least for a second; "Why the heck is that guy chasing us!?!"

What are they thinking!?!
In other news, I'll be with at least two new sponsors in 2012. I'll withhold any further information, because there may be more - wishful thinking. In addition to that vague announcement, here's another! My race schedule for next year will look a little different than this past season. I've drawn one up and it is nothing short of awesome, however, it's tentative to say the least. Coach Muddy and I have yet to go over the plan.

In other, more exciting news, tomorrow (11/7) officially marks the beginning of my off-season (i.e., no swimming, biking, or running). As I've mentioned in previous posts some time ago, I'm traveling to Nepal to trek and climb in the Himalayas. If you're wondering about the temperature, yeah, it's cold. Have I put on weight? No, although the majority of my dinner tonight was apple pie and cheesecake. Growing a beard should help...

To end, here's something of humor:

While at the bank pulling out money for the trip, the teller asked what plans I had for the money. The question seemed inappropriate, but I kindly replied, "Going to Nepal." She then asked if I was moving there. Adorable, but really dumb. The comment, not the girl.
